Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Primary SEN School

About the role

We are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded primary SEN school in Southcote, Reading. The role focuses on supporting pupils with social, mental and health (SMH) needs and trauma‑related backgrounds, helping them feel safe, understood and able to thrive in the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with SMH and trauma needs.
• Assist in creating a calm, structured and engaging learning environment.
• Build strong, positive relationships that encourage pupil confidence and resilience.
• Support pupils in self‑regulation, learning activities and daily routines.
• Collaborate with teachers and senior staff to implement tailored wellbeing plans.
