Special Needs Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (SE7)

About the role
We are seeking a caring and committed Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant SEND secondary school in South East London. You will work closely with students who have a range of additional needs, supporting them to build confidence, independence and academic achievement.
Key responsibilities
- Support students with SEND both inside the classroom and during break times.
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance tailored to individual needs.
- Help create an inclusive, positive learning environment for all pupils.
- Collaborate daily with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to plan and review support strategies.
Required profile
- Patience, empathy and a genuine desire to make a difference.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with SEND is desirable but not essential.
- Proactive, flexible approach to changing classroom demands.
- Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain one.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
