Special Needs Teaching Assistant – SEND Schools

About the role

We are seeking dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants to support pupils in SEND schools across London. The role involves working with children who have Autism, Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and behavioural/social‑emotional needs, delivering both educational and personal care support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities for students with diverse SEND profiles.
• Provide personal care, including feeding and physical support for pupils with PMLD.
• Establish consistent routines, build relationships quickly, and adapt communication methods to each child’s needs.
• Support behavioural management strategies and de‑escalation techniques for students with SEMH needs.
• Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and daily activities.

Required profile

• Experience or genuine interest in supporting children with special educational needs.
• Ability to work full‑time or part‑time (8:30 am‑4:00 pm, Mon‑Fri) for the academic year.
• Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a flexible, confident attitude.
• Willingness to undergo training provided by school staff.
