Special Needs Tutor / Teacher (General FE)

About the role

Lifeworks College is seeking an experienced Special Needs Tutor/Teacher to join its small further‑education provision in Dartington. You will deliver tailored lessons to 16‑24‑year‑old learners with learning disabilities, supporting them to achieve academic and personal milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in subjects such as English, Maths and IT, working alongside Learning Support Assistants.
• Provide 1:1 personal tutoring and guidance for students who need individualized support.
• Integrate new technologies into teaching practice and support assistants in doing the same.
• Monitor, assess and report on student progress, welfare and attendance.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, parents’ evenings, extracurricular and off‑site activities.
• Collaborate with the Employment Team to arrange work placements and supported internships.
• Lead sessions for the Day Service provision when required.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience teaching in a general FE setting.
• Passion for supporting learners with special educational needs.
• Ability to adapt teaching style to provide individualized learning experiences.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage resources within a budget.

Required skills

• Proficiency in delivering curriculum for English, Maths and IT.
• Experience using educational technology tools.
