About the role

A mainstream primary school in Newham, East London is looking for a Specialist Behaviour Teaching Assistant to provide one‑to‑one support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. The role is ideal for candidates with experience in behaviour support and a passion for helping children thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support for pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviour.
• Implement strategies that promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Assist pupils during lessons, interventions and less structured parts of the school day.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
• Foster resilience, confidence and positive relationships for each pupil.

Required profile

• Experience supporting children with SEN, especially SEMH or challenging behaviour.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Resilient, calm and adaptable approach.
• Willingness to undertake or already hold training in behaviour support techniques.
