Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Mental Health

About the role
The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Mental Health will manage a caseload of patients across inpatient and outpatient mental health settings, providing expert pharmaceutical care, independent prescribing (or working towards qualification), and advice to patients, carers and multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and review medication regimens for mental health patients in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Prescribe independently where qualified, or progress towards independent prescribing status.
- Ensure safety, appropriate administration and governance of high‑risk medicines.
- Provide specialist pharmacy advice to multidisciplinary teams in line with national and local guidance.
- Collaborate with community mental health teams, primary care and community pharmacies to deliver seamless, patient‑centred care.
- Support the senior mental health pharmacist in developing medication governance frameworks.
- Participate in peer‑support networks for independent prescribers and specialist pharmacists.
Required profile
- Registered pharmacist with a qualification (or progression) in independent prescribing.
- Experience or strong interest in mental health pharmacy practice.
- Willingness to travel across Fife to meet service demand.
- Commitment to delivering safe, clinically effective medication use.
- Completion of the pharmacy foundation programme is desirable.

- Permanent Band 7 position (£52,845 – £61,466 per annum).
