Specialist Community Public Health Nurse – School Nurse

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse to work as a School Nurse within the Children and Families Service. Based at Pollok Health Centre, this part‑time permanent role involves delivering high‑quality public health interventions to school‑aged children and young people, supporting families and collaborating with schools and partner agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of school‑aged children and young people, assessing needs and providing evidence‑based care.
• Plan, deliver and evaluate targeted health‑and‑wellbeing interventions.
• Work collaboratively with families, schools and multi‑agency teams to coordinate support.
• Contribute to child protection processes and support vulnerable children.
• Promote public‑health initiatives and run programmes aimed at improving health outcomes.
• Provide leadership, mentorship and support to colleagues and the wider school‑nursing team.
• Participate in service improvement, quality assurance, audit and development activities.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a current live NMC UK PIN.
• Demonstrated commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Understanding of public‑health principles and child protection frameworks.
