Specialist Glaucoma Doctor – Part‑time Fixed‑Term (6‑12 months)

About the role

Optegra Eye Healthcare is seeking an experienced Glaucoma Doctor to join its NHS‑linked medical glaucoma service on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis (6‑12 months). The role involves both clinical and surgical support, providing high‑quality care to patients with glaucoma and related ocular conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, evaluate and manage patients with existing or undiagnosed glaucoma.
• Perform diagnostic tests such as visual field assessments, optical coherence tomography (OCT), VOLK, central corneal thickness (CCT) measurements and gonioscopy.
• Develop and implement management plans for glaucoma referrals.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care for surgical patients.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, optometrists and other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive treatment plans.
• Participate in team meetings and service development initiatives.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with healthcare regulations.
• Educate patients and families about glaucoma management and treatment options.

Required profile

• Medical degree from a recognised university.
• Valid GMC registration with a licence to practise in the UK.
• Proven experience in ophthalmology, specifically in managing glaucoma cases.
