Specialist Intermediate Track File Handler

About the role

As a Specialist Handler you will manage litigated delegated and non‑delegated motor instructions for key insurer clients and the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB), handling claims valued from £25,000 to £100,000. You will work in a small, specialist team dealing with indemnity issues for the UK’s largest insurers and report directly to the Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Review files and adhere to client guidelines, ensuring compliance with Part 7 litigation, CPR Rules and court procedures.
• Formulate and communicate case strategy, manage fee structures and meet SLA and critical date requirements.
• Draft legal documents, cost budgets, and instructions to experts, and process court orders and deadlines.
• Undertake negotiations with third‑party solicitors, liaise with insured parties, insurers and brokers, and attend court hearings and conferences.
• Maintain accurate time‑recording, case spend monitoring and ISO 9001‑compliant file management.

Required profile

• Minimum 24 months experience handling litigated claims, including Part 7 cases.
• Minimum 12 months experience on claims exceeding £25,000.
• Proven ability to manage Intermediate/Multi‑Track RTA litigated files and a personal case load.
• Understanding of indemnity issues and the MIB framework is advantageous.
• Professional client liaison, high accuracy and ability to meet tight deadlines.
