Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Worker

About the role

As a Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Worker you will provide personalised learning support and academic guidance to students funded by the Disabled Students Allowance. You will develop individual learning plans, foster independence and help students become effective, self‑directed learners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop student independence and confidence in learning.
• Build on strengths and introduce effective learning strategies.
• Create organisation and time‑management strategies tailored to each student.
• Design action plans to keep students on track with their studies.
• Enhance research skills by using a variety of appropriate sources.
• Teach correct referencing and source evaluation techniques.
• Improve reading and writing comprehension skills.

Required profile

• Minimum undergraduate degree level (Level 6).
• Teaching qualification.
• Extensive training in adult autism (e.g., 6 National Autistic Society modules or the Optimum Training Course).
• Compliance with the DfE qualification framework for Disabled Students Allowance support.
