Specialist Outreach Tutor

About the role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Specialist Outreach Tutor to provide one‑to‑one academic and mentoring support for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the Liverpool area. The role blends curriculum teaching with life‑skill development, helping learners build confidence, plan for the future and engage with the local community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver core curriculum subjects to SEND students on a 1:1 basis.
• Provide mentoring on CV writing, future planning and confidence‑building activities.
• Organise and accompany students on community trips to promote social integration.
• Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs.
• Maintain accurate records of sessions and progress.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
• Previous experience working with SEND students or disengaged young people.
• Prior UK teaching experience.
• Creative, patient and flexible approach to supporting learners.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.
