Specialist SEND Support Practitioner (PMLD & Complex Needs)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Specialist SEND Support Practitioner to work with learners who have Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and complex needs. The role is based in North London and offers a temporary, full‑time contract.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist personal care while preserving dignity and privacy.
• Administer prescribed medication and support PEG feeding according to healthcare plans.
• Perform manual handling tasks safely using hoists, slings, wheelchairs and other specialist equipment.
• Facilitate communication using Makaton, PECS, AAC or Intensive Interaction.
• Assist learners in accessing educational, sensory, therapeutic and life‑skills activities.
• Monitor wellbeing, report concerns promptly and maintain accurate care records.

Required profile

• Significant experience supporting learners with SEND, PMLD and complex medical needs.
• Training and competence in personal care, moving and handling, medication administration and PEG feeding.
• Strong understanding of learner‑centred practice and inclusive education.
• Excellent communication and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
