Specialty Doctor – Emergency Medicine

About the role
We are seeking experienced Specialty Doctors in Emergency Medicine to join a busy, supportive Emergency Department in South West England. The position offers flexible, self‑rostered annualised rotas and both full‑time and part‑time options, enabling an excellent work‑life balance while advancing your emergency medicine career.
Key responsibilities
- Assess, investigate, treat and discharge or refer patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Lead trauma activations and cardiac arrest teams, and participate in major incident responses.
- Provide clinical advice and supervision to junior doctors and multidisciplinary team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation, coding and communication with patients, carers and GPs.
- Collaborate with inpatient specialties, mental health services, rapid response teams and community providers.
- Engage in clinical governance, quality improvement, audit, risk management and incident investigations.
- Deliver bedside teaching and educational sessions for students, junior doctors and allied health professionals.
Required profile
- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
- ALS/ACLS certification (or booked course) and ATLS, APLS, PALS or EPLS certification.
- Minimum four years postgraduate clinical experience for Senior Specialty Doctor level (three years may be considered for Junior appointments).
- At least two years NHS experience at SHO level or above, or equivalent experience in the EU or similar healthcare system.
- Demonstrated experience managing acute emergency presentations and supervising junior clinicians.
