Spectrum Manager – Space Sector

About the role

Astroscale UK is looking for a Spectrum Manager to lead spectrum management and regulatory activities for its innovative space programmes. You will ensure compliance with international and national spectrum regulations while supporting mission success from concept through to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage ITU satellite filings and frequency coordination activities, meeting all regulatory deadlines.
• Prepare and submit ITU filings, coordinate with finance for filing fees, and produce annual reports for Ofcom.
• Negotiate frequency coordination agreements for planned space activities.
• Conduct technical studies, including RF interference, frequency compatibility, link‑budget and interference analysis.
• Guide engineering teams to ensure compliance with ITU and national regulatory frameworks.
• Support licensing of ground stations and develop reports, studies, and assessments on spectrum aspects.
• Engage with external bodies such as Ofcom, the UK Ministry of Defence, the ITU and other international groups.
• Participate in ITU Working Parties and preparatory meetings for World Radiocommunication Conferences.

Required profile

• BSc/MSc (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Radio Frequency or a related field.
• Prior experience in spectrum management or engineering for space systems, including satellite communications.
• Strong understanding of satellite payload design, earth‑station characteristics, ITU Radio Regulations and satellite licensing.
