Speech and Language Teaching Assistant

About the role

Reeson Education is recruiting a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Newham, London. The position starts as soon as possible and runs full‑time until the end of the academic year, with the potential for extension.

Key responsibilities

• Support classroom activities across KS1 and KS2.
• Provide targeted assistance to a non‑verbal child with speech and language difficulties.
• Collaborate with a fellow staff member to share duties between general teaching and specialist support.
• Maintain a calm, inclusive environment without challenging behaviour.

Required profile

• Experience in a primary school setting or a background in speech and language.
• Knowledge of SEND (Special Educational Needs) and the EYFS curriculum.
• Eligibility for an Enhanced DBS check and any required overseas police clearances.
• Legal right to work in the UK.

Required skills

• PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).
• Welcome communication platform.
