Speech and Language Therapist – Education Support

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in Carshalton, delivering specialist support to children and young people with speech, language and communication needs within educational settings. The role involves assessment, intervention and collaboration with school staff to promote inclusive learning environments.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and support pupils with speech, language and communication needs, including autism, developmental language disorder and speech sound difficulties.
• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, educational psychologists and parents to embed communication strategies into classroom practice.
• Provide advice, training and resources to school staff to create communication‑friendly environments.
• Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) by preparing assessment reports, setting outcomes and participating in reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum BSc degree in Speech and Language Therapy or related field.
• Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Experience supporting teenagers or young adults in a healthcare or educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to child welfare.

Required skills

• Ability to conduct speech and language assessments.
• Proficiency in developing individualized intervention plans.
• Effective communication with multidisciplinary teams and families.
