Speech and Language Therapist – Specialist SEMH School (Part‑Time)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist SEMH and SEND school in rural West Sussex. The position is part‑time (three days per week) and covers term‑time only, offering a supportive environment where communication, wellbeing and positive relationships are central.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of pupils with diverse communication needs, including SLCN, DLD, ASC, ADHD and other neurodivergent profiles.
• Conduct holistic, strengths‑based assessments and develop tailored intervention plans.
• Deliver evidence‑based Speech and Language Therapy interventions individually, in groups and across the whole school.
• Provide advice, training and guidance to teaching staff and support families, carers and external professionals.
• Contribute to EHCP reviews, annual reviews and multidisciplinary meetings, producing high‑quality reports and maintaining clinical records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards.
• Promote a communication‑friendly environment and embed effective strategies throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Degree‑level qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
• Current registration with the HCPC.
• Experience working with children and young people, including assessment, intervention and report writing.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Collaborative approach to multidisciplinary work and a genuine passion for improving outcomes for learners with additional needs.
