Speech & Language Support Assistant – Primary School (Newcastle)

About the role

Join a specialist classroom in Benwell, Newcastle, to help children with Autism Spectrum Condition and Global Developmental Delay find their voice. As a Speech & Language Support Assistant you will work alongside teachers, therapists and families to create a nurturing environment where pupils can develop communication skills, confidence and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Support speech, language and communication development for pupils with SEND.
• Deliver targeted communication and learning interventions.
• Encourage positive social interaction and engagement.
• Create a safe, structured and supportive classroom atmosphere.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and families to monitor and promote pupil progress.

Required profile

• Holds Speech & Language qualifications or has relevant experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, particularly ASC.
• Patient, compassionate and adaptable.
• Effective communicator with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Passionate about helping every child succeed.
