Speech & Language Teaching Assistant – Bacup (Sep 2026)

About the role

We are seeking a Level 2 Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to support a student with speech and language needs in a Bacup school. The role starts in September 2026 and runs for the academic year on a full‑time, temporary basis.

Key responsibilities

• Work one‑to‑one with a student requiring speech and language support.
• Assist in preparing and delivering daily lessons.
• Support individual pupils or small groups to understand material and complete tasks.
• Collaborate with the class teacher to maintain an inclusive learning environment.
• Manage classroom resources and set up activities.
• Supervise pupils during non‑classroom times such as lunch and recess.
• Help monitor and record student progress.

Required profile

• Holding a Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar school‑based role is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with children.
• Good organisational abilities and teamwork.
• Commitment to professional growth and development.
