Speech & Language Therapist – Band 5/6 (Maternity Cover)

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech & Language Therapist to join a specialist education setting supporting young people aged 16‑25 with learning disabilities, autism, communication difficulties and complex needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary therapy team, managing a caseload of students with complex speech, language and communication needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan and deliver therapy for students with complex communication needs.
• Utilise AAC systems, signing systems and other communication approaches.
• Support dysphagia where required.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure holistic care.

Required profile

• HCPC‑registered Speech & Language Therapist.
• Band 5 (NQP competencies completed) or Band 6 level.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex communication needs.
• Knowledge of AAC and alternative communication methods.

Required skills

• AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) systems.
• Signing systems.
• Dysphagia support (desirable).
