Speech & Language Therapist – Specialist Children’s Services (Part‑time)

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a motivated Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Specialist Children’s Services team in East Renfrewshire. This permanent part‑time position (21.6 hours per week) is based at Barrhead Health and Care Centre and involves working closely with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and provide therapy for children and young people with speech, language, communication, and swallowing difficulties.
• Design and deliver individualized therapy programmes, including complex cases.
• Manage a specialist caseload autonomously, prioritising risk and need.
• Supervise Clinical Support Workers and ensure accurate clinical documentation.
• Participate in clinical supervision, peer review, operational management and Care Aims processes.
• Collaborate with the SLT Team Leader/Manager to review referrals and coordinate onward referrals to CAMHS, OT, PT, and Educational Psychology.
• Evaluate therapy outcomes using evidence‑based practice and make discharge decisions when appropriate.

Required profile

• Qualified Speech and Language Therapist, registered with the appropriate professional body.
• Experience working with children and young people in a community or specialist setting.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection standards.
