Speech & Language Therapist – Specialist College

About the role
We are looking for a dedicated Speech & Language Therapist to join an outstanding specialist college rated by Ofsted. The role involves supporting young people and adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex communication needs, using person‑centred approaches.
Key responsibilities
- Utilise a person‑centred approach to promote choice, independence and inclusion, aligning with the Human Rights Act and Valuing People principles.
- Assess students’ communication, eating, drinking and learning environment needs using formal and informal tools.
- Manage a clinical caseload independently, including the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
- Collaborate with external agencies to ensure smooth transitions for students’ communication and dietary requirements.
- Support teaching and support staff through planning, training, coaching and classroom observations to deliver curriculum at appropriate language levels.
Required profile
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
- Registration with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and eligibility for Royal College membership.
- Experience working with individuals with moderate to severe learning disabilities and autism.
- Strong understanding of AAC and experience in an educational setting.
