Speech & Language Therapist – Specialist Further Education

About the role

Reed Further Education is recruiting Speech & Language Therapists for specialist further‑education settings across London and Surrey. The role starts in September 2026 and offers the chance to support young people and adults with SEND, helping them develop communication, independence and transition skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assess communication, learning environment and eating/drinking needs using formal and informal methods.
• Manage an independent clinical caseload of learners with autism, learning disabilities and complex communication needs.
• Support and develop the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices and strategies.
• Provide training, coaching and guidance to teaching and support staff.
• Contribute to individual support plans and ensure curriculum accessibility.
• Collaborate with families, education teams and external agencies to facilitate smooth transitions.

Required profile

• Degree in Speech & Language Therapy (or equivalent) and HCPC registration.
• Eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Experience working with learners who have learning disabilities, autism and complex communication needs.
• Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and deliver person‑centred interventions.

Required skills

• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) expertise.
