SRE Observability Technical Lead – Vice President

About the role

The SRE Observability Technical Lead will drive the observability strategy for Citi's Payments Business, working within a central SRE enablement team. You will translate high‑level reliability goals into concrete engineering outcomes and help modernise legacy monitoring into a data‑driven observability platform.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for Project Orion, including end‑to‑end payments dashboards and toil reduction initiatives.
• Embed telemetry, implement Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and create visualisations for critical production flows.
• Act as a bridge between Services Technology teams and central infrastructure/CTO groups, prioritising observability needs.
• Collaborate with SREs, developers, and platform teams to standardise observability tooling across the organisation.
• Provide technical support and guidance for payments taxonomy (ACH, wires, instant payments) monitoring.

Required profile

• Deep technical expertise in observability concepts and platforms.
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication and influencing skills.
• Commercial awareness and ability to negotiate and drive change across business units.
• Experience working in large‑scale, high‑throughput financial environments.

Required skills

• Observability tooling (e.g., telemetry, metrics, tracing frameworks).
• Implementation and management of SLOs.
• Payments taxonomy knowledge (ACH, wires, instant payments).
• Familiarity with AI/ML‑enhanced monitoring solutions.
