Staff Nurse – Inpatient Surgical Unit (Ward 12)

About the role

Join a busy 21‑bed inpatient surgical unit delivering high‑quality care across multiple specialties. This role is ideal for a passionate nurse eager to develop expertise in surgery and ENT within a supportive NHS environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality nursing care to patients on a 21‑bed inpatient surgical unit.
• Deliver care across specialties including gynaecology, general surgery, ENT (including tracheostomy and laryngectomy), orthopaedics and cardio‑version procedures.
• Support elective and emergency patients before, during and after procedures.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in clinical governance, audits and quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Motivated, enthusiastic and flexible with a team‑oriented attitude.
• Ability to manage workload in a fast‑paced 24/7 environment.
• Commitment to compassionate, patient‑centred care.

Required skills

• ENT surgical care, including tracheostomy and laryngectomy management.
• Experience with orthopaedic and cardio‑version procedures.
• Excellent communication for delivering sensitive information and lifestyle advice.
