Staff Nurse - Medical Infusion Suite

About the role

The Medical Infusion Suite at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 Registered Nurse to deliver safe, high‑quality care to patients receiving infusion therapies. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support patient assessment, treatment monitoring and the administration of intravenous medicines.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients throughout infusion treatment.
• Administer intravenous therapies in accordance with Trust policies and competency standards.
• Escalate any changes in patient condition promptly to senior staff.
• Assist with patient flow, including admission and discharge processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and uphold infection‑prevention and safety protocols.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement activities and support the induction of new staff and students.
• Support ward management tasks such as staff attendance recording and resource ordering.
• Report local issues and help maintain a safe clinical environment.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• Relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting.
• Willingness to develop or already possess competence in intravenous therapy.
• Strong communication, organisational and teamwork abilities.
