Staff Nurse – Mental Health Unscheduled Care

About the role

The NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Mental Health Unscheduled Care Service at the Assessment Hub. Working a 36‑hour week with day, night and weekend shifts, you will support home‑treatment pathways and collaborate with Police Scotland and the Ayrshire Urgent Care Service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver home‑treatment services for mental health service users across Ayrshire & Arran.
• Provide assessment and crisis intervention in the Unscheduled Care Mental Health Assessment Hub during daytime and nighttime hours.
• Work closely with Police Scotland, AUCS and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, coordinated care.
• Adhere to current mental health policies, legislation and NHS standards.
• Operate as a lone worker when required, maintaining clear communication and documentation.

Required profile

• Registered Mental Nurse (RMN) qualification.
• Valid UK driving licence.
• Motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of mental health legislation and crisis management.
