Staff Nurse – Oncology (Band 5)

About the role

The Christie is seeking a compassionate Staff Nurse (Band 5) to join Ward 11, an acute medical oncology unit. You will work in a 28‑bed ward delivering complex chemotherapy, palliative, and end‑of‑life care to a diverse cancer population.

Key responsibilities

• Manage acutely unwell oncology patients and recognise early deterioration.
• Administer and monitor complex chemotherapy regimens safely.
• Provide specialist oncological nursing interventions and palliative care.
• Educate patients and families about treatment, side effects, and self‑care.
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
• Advocate for patients, liaise with the MDT, and support end‑of‑life decisions.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with eligibility to work in the UK.
• Interest in developing a career in cancer care.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence‑based practice.
