Staff Nurse – Pre‑Assessment (Full‑time)

About the role

The Cherwell Hospital is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join its Pre‑Assessment team. Working 37.5 hours per week, you will provide specialist nursing expertise to ensure safe, evidence‑based care for patients awaiting procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and coordinate pre‑assessment patients throughout their pathway.
• Collaborate with nurses, healthcare assistants, and the multi‑disciplinary team.
• Participate in anaesthetic and complex MDT meetings, escalating and planning care for high‑risk patients.
• Communicate complex, sensitive information to patients, carers and clinical staff, identifying and overcoming barriers to understanding.
• Act as patient advocate, maintaining informed consent, privacy and dignity.
• Support outpatient department staff, including nursing students and visiting professionals.
• Reflect on personal performance through supervision and action learning.

Required profile

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
• At least 6 months paid experience in a pre‑op assessment nursing role within the last three years.
• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible, positive attitude with a warm, considerate and empathetic character.
