Staff Nurse – Registered General Nurse

About the role

Oxleas is seeking a qualified Registered General Nurse to join its prison health service team. As a Staff Nurse you will work autonomously, delivering high‑quality clinical care across acute, primary and long‑term health needs within a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily primary‑care clinics, including urgent same‑day triage, long‑term condition management, immunisations, wound care, health screening and care planning.
• Administer medication safely and in accordance with NHS guidelines.
• Provide emergency response to incidents on prison wings, in healthcare settings and communal areas.
• Deliver enhanced assessment and diagnostic interventions, and promote health‑promotion activities.
• Supervise, mentor and support junior staff, students and unregistered personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (NMC‑registered) with the ability to exercise professional autonomy and make complex clinical judgments.
• Commitment to evidence‑based nursing practice and outcome‑driven care.
• Willingness to work in a secure prison environment and adhere to Trust policies and the NMC Code of Conduct.
