Staff Software Security Engineer

About the role

Anthropic’s Security Engineering team protects large‑scale AI clusters across multiple clouds and data centers. As a Staff Software Security Engineer you will design, implement, and ship security controls that become the default for new infrastructure, ensuring safety and trust for users and society.

Key responsibilities

• Build IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and firewall policies for AI clusters on cloud and bare‑metal environments.
• Ship secure defaults via infrastructure‑as‑code and GitOps so new VPCs and data‑center links inherit proper boundaries.
• Provide network traffic visibility, detect exfiltration paths, and automate safe remediation.
• Design secure development workflows and CI/CD pipelines with deep Kubernetes, container, and identity expertise.
• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for multi‑cloud, multi‑tenant topologies.
• Mentor engineers and help grow the Security team.

Required profile

• 8‑15+ years of software engineering experience building critical systems at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Python and at least one systems language (Go, Rust, C/C++).
• Hands‑on network security engineering in cloud or on‑prem environments.
• Experience with Kubernetes security, networking, and container hardening.
• Proven ability to perform threat modeling and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication, mentorship, and low‑ego collaborative style.
