Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator

About the role
We are seeking a Steel Operative / Overhead Crane Operator to join a leading steel processing company in the Aston area of Birmingham. The role is permanent, full‑time and involves working in dispatch, moving steel coils and handling vehicle loading and unloading.
Key responsibilities
- Operate overhead cranes to move steel coils around the workplace
- Handle steel coils, including banding processed coils
- Drive counterbalance forklift trucks
- Work in dispatch, loading and unloading vehicles
- Prepare orders and receive deliveries
- Perform any other duties as required
Required profile
- Proven experience as an overhead crane operator in the steel industry
- Ability to work straight‑day shifts (7:30 am‑4:15 pm Mon‑Thu, 1 pm finish Fri)
- Commitment to a permanent, full‑time role (38.5 hours per week)
