Step Forward Foster Carer (Psychology Assistant)

About the role
Join the Step Forward programme as a foster carer in Basingstoke and surrounding areas. You will welcome a young person placed by Plymouth City Council into your home, providing a stable, supportive environment as they transition from residential care.
Key responsibilities
- Provide a safe, nurturing home for a child or young person placed through the fostering programme.
- Support the child's emotional, educational and social development.
- Work closely with social workers and mental‑health professionals to implement care plans.
- Maintain a dedicated bedroom and ensure the child's basic needs are met.
Required profile
- Age 21 or over and permanent UK residency (British citizen or ILR).
- Spare, dedicated bedroom in your home.
- Experience supporting children, young people, or vulnerable adults (professional or personal).
- Ability to work with children who have experienced trauma or mental‑health challenges.
Required skills
- Understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
- Basic first‑aid knowledge.
