Step Forward Foster Carer – Residential Care (Folkestone)

About the role

This is a Step Forward foster carer position based in Folkestone and surrounding areas. You will welcome a young person into your own home, providing a safe, stable environment while supporting their transition from residential care to independent living.

Key responsibilities

• Offer a dedicated bedroom and a secure, nurturing home environment.
• Provide daily emotional support, guidance and practical assistance.
• Work closely with Plymouth City Council and the fostering team to develop and follow the child’s care plan.
• Maintain records of the child’s progress and attend regular review meetings.
• Ensure the child’s health, safety and wellbeing at all times.

Required profile

• Be 21 years of age or older.
• Have a spare, dedicated bedroom in your home.
• Demonstrate experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable adults, either professionally or personally.
• Hold British citizenship or Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK.
• Not be on a temporary visa (EU settled/pre‑settled, student, skilled worker, health & care, spouse, graduate, etc.).
