Store Manager – Small Supermarket/Convenience Store

About the role

Quest Search & Selection is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead a small supermarket or convenience store. You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operations, ensuring high standards of customer service and profitability in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily store operations, including stock control, merchandising and health & safety compliance.
• Manage the store P&L, monitor sales performance, wage budgets and financial controls to meet profitability targets.
• Drive commercial performance by analysing KPIs and implementing action plans.
• Build strong relationships with customers and maintain the store’s reputation in the local community.
• Recruit, train, coach and develop team members, supporting succession planning.

Required profile

• Proven experience at Store Manager level or as an Assistant/Deputy Manager ready for progression.
• Strong leadership abilities with a focus on motivating and developing teams.
• Excellent communication and customer‑focused attitude.
• Willingness to relocate to an island location within the UK.
• Hands‑on, proactive mindset with solid problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Understanding of retail operations, stock control and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of store compliance and operational processes.
