Stores Person – Prison Facility

About the role

This temporary full‑time position supports the HM Prison Service at HMP Buckley Hall by managing store inventory and issuing supplies to prisoners. You will work on‑site in a secure environment, ensuring stock levels are maintained and records are accurate.

Key responsibilities

• Issue required stock (clothing, personal items, etc.) to prisoners promptly on request.
• Carry out regular stock checks to prevent shortages.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the stores area.
• Pack and dispatch items via courier, ensuring safe delivery.
• Record and track all stock movements and issue logs.
• Collect items locally as needed and support other maintenance team activities.

Required profile

• Ability to obtain full prison security clearance and an enhanced DBS (arranged by Hays/MOJ).
• Valid passport or full birth certificate with photo driving licence at current address.
• Proof of National Insurance and recent proof of address (within 3 months).
• At least three years of satisfactory references.
• Experience in a stores or inventory role is desirable.

Required skills

• Manual handling.
• Comfort working in a prisoner‑facing environment.
