Strategic Finance Manager

About the role

Seven Resourcing is seeking an experienced Strategic Finance Manager to support a local authority finance function in Truro, Cornwall. This temporary, senior‑level position will provide strategic financial leadership, advise senior stakeholders and help shape key decisions that improve financial resilience and support council priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial advice to senior leaders and Directorate Leadership Teams.
• Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting and performance‑management activities.
• Act as a finance business partner, building strong relationships with operational and strategic stakeholders.
• Identify financial risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
• Support organisational transformation and delivery of sustainable efficiencies.
• Deliver insight and analysis to improve financial performance and outcomes.
• Support governance, financial reporting and assurance processes.
• Collaborate with finance colleagues, service leads and external partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior finance, strategic finance or financial management role.
• Strong understanding of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance reporting.
• Experience providing financial advice to senior decision‑makers.
• Background in local government, public sector or complex organisational environments (highly desirable).
• Excellent business‑partnering, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.

What we offer

• Hybrid working model with some attendance required in Truro.
• Pay rate of £277.07 per day (PAYE) or £350 per day under an umbrella arrangement.
• Initial six‑month contract with the possibility of extension.
