Strategy & Operations Director (Data Science)

About the role

As Strategy & Operations Director for Data Science, you will partner directly with the COO, Chief of Staff and senior Data Science leaders to turn strategy into measurable business outcomes. You will create a data‑driven view of the organisation’s performance, identify improvement opportunities and ensure execution aligns with strategic intent.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an integrated view of performance across the Data Science division, combining financial, operational, product and organisational metrics.
• Define OKRs, KPIs and performance indicators with leadership and establish performance rhythms such as scorecards and operating reviews.
• Analyse performance data to spot trends, risks and bottlenecks, and translate insights into recommendations for the COO and Data Science leadership.
• Support the COO & Chief of Staff in translating strategy into clear initiatives, monitor execution, and lead high‑priority cross‑functional projects.
• Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, preparing briefing materials, driving decisions to action and anticipating issues that require executive intervention.

Required profile

• Proven experience in strategy, business operations, transformation or performance management within a complex, matrixed organisation.
• Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret financial, operational and organisational data and drive measurable improvements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence senior leaders without formal authority.
• Comfort with ambiguity, capable of structuring problems and delivering pragmatic solutions.
• Interest in data science and AI tools is advantageous, though deep technical expertise is not required.
