Streetworks Inspector – Remote Contract

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Streetworks Inspector to join Somerset Council on a remote, 3‑6 month contract. You will be responsible for ensuring that statutory undertakers comply with standards during live works and reinstatements.
Key responsibilities
- Meet with statutory undertakers to discuss compliance, performance and upcoming works.
- Inspect live work sites and completed reinstatements, identifying defective works and issuing remedial instructions.
- Record inspections using handheld devices and systems such as Confirm and Street Manager, including mapping and photo evidence.
- Check diversion routes and temporary traffic management for correct signage and compliance.
- Carry out post‑closure inspections to identify damage caused by diverted traffic and direct remedial actions.
Required profile
- Proven experience as a Streetworks Inspector.
- Experience working with statutory undertakers and identifying defective works.
- Background in a local authority environment.
Required skills
- Proficiency with the Confirm inspection system.
- Proficiency with the Street Manager system.
