Structured Cabling Data Engineer

About the role

NG Bailey is looking for a Structured Cabling Data Engineer to join its on‑site team in Plymouth. You will work across military sites delivering break‑fix, installation and maintenance of fibre, data and voice infrastructure while supporting managed services for critical communications.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out safe installation, testing and fault‑resolution of fibre, data and voice cabling on live customer sites.
• Maintain material control, record deliveries and manage project stock.
• Produce accurate project documentation, including timesheets, mileage returns, daily reports and completion certificates.
• Monitor quality and productivity against programme schedules and keep daily site records.
• Ensure all work complies with NG Bailey IT Service standards, vendor/manufacturer guidelines and MoD specifications.
• Build and maintain positive customer relationships to optimise future opportunities.

Required profile

• Knowledge of Ministry of Defence (MoD) standards.
• Previous experience with fibre, data and voice cabling.
• Proven ability to locate and rectify faults on live sites.
• Comfort working from construction drawings.
• Willingness to join an on‑call rota, work out‑of‑hours and travel (UK and overseas).
• Possession of a valid driving licence; security clearance will be supported.
