Student Assistant Technical Agronomist (12 Month Placement)

About the role

BASF Agricultural Solutions is looking for a student assistant technical agronomist for a 12-month placement, reporting to the R&D Operations Manager and working alongside a team of agronomists in the BASF Agricultural Solutions Division. The role covers all aspects of field trial work over an agricultural year and supports current and future new compounds in the development pipeline. It gives a basic introduction to agronomy and UK agriculture, and offers the chance to run your own project.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and execution of field trials and report on progress and results for individual projects
• Help with product application, seed preparation and product preparation, and other day-to-day R&D operations tasks
• Run your own project on agricultural solutions topics depending on your interests
• Work flexibly outside normal hours at peak periods of the year

Required profile

• Working towards an Agriculture, Biology or Agronomy-related degree
• Valid UK driving licence
• Right to work in the UK for the duration of the placement
• Previous farm or agronomy experience is an advantage
• Multiple locations available, including Suffolk, Yorkshire and the Oxfordshire area; preferred location must be confirmed when applying

Required skills

• Confident with IT programmes, including Excel and PowerPoint
• Self-motivated, with good communication, teamwork and organisation skills
