Student Mentor – Support 16‑19 Year Olds

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and empathetic Student Mentor to work with 16‑19‑year‑old pupils in West London. You will help young people overcome barriers to learning, build confidence and stay engaged with their education.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group mentoring sessions focused on confidence, resilience and goal‑setting.
• Support pupils with behaviour, attendance and overall engagement.
• Build positive, trusted relationships with students as a role model.
• Collaborate closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and the SENCO.
• Monitor, record and report on student progress and outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience working with young people in schools, youth work, coaching or a similar setting.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to build rapport with challenging or disengaged students.
• Patient, resilient, proactive and passionate about youth development.
• Desirable experience in SEN, SEMH, alternative provision or a background in psychology, youth work or education.

Required skills

• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Behaviour management awareness.
• Understanding of safeguarding and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
