About the role
We are looking for a Study Skills Lecturer to join our growing team and help students develop the academic abilities they need for success. You will work on‑site in Leeds (or Manchester) delivering a range of skill‑building sessions across English, numeracy, research, digital and critical thinking.
Key responsibilities
- Design, plan and deliver teaching sessions that develop students' academic skills.
- Create assessments, mark work and ensure learning outcomes are met.
- Provide personalised feedback and academic guidance.
- Contribute to programme design, development, review and enhancement across the Faculty.
- Participate in internal and external events such as open days, outreach activities and partner visits.
- Stay up‑to‑date with best practice in learning, teaching and educational technologies.
- Support the creation, application and dissemination of new knowledge in higher education practice.
Required profile
- Passion for education’s power to transform lives and ability to inspire students.
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject (PhD desirable).
- Proven experience teaching in UK higher education and in widening‑access environments.
- Experience supervising student work and providing constructive feedback.
- Willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, numeracy, digital skills, research).
- High level of digital literacy and strong communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain thorough student records.
