Subsidence Claims Consultant – Desk-based / Remote

About the role

This remote position places you at the heart of a technical claims operation, managing a portfolio of domestic and commercial subsidence claims. You will use your engineering insight and analytical mindset to guide each case from initial report to settlement, providing clear explanations to policyholders.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for a portfolio of subsidence claims, from notification to settlement.
• Diagnose the cause of damage using engineering knowledge and evidence‑based assessment.
• Coordinate investigations, monitor repairs and implement mitigation strategies.
• Communicate compassionately with customers, ensuring they feel supported throughout the process.
• Make fair, balanced decisions that align with policy cover and technical best practice.
• Drive progress proactively to deliver timely, high‑quality outcomes.

Required profile

• A recognised professional building qualification (e.g., MICE, MRICS, MCIOB, MIStructE, MCABE) or active progression toward one.
• Strong technical knowledge of structural defects and subsidence‑related issues.
• Ability to diagnose building damage remotely using supplied evidence.
• Experience within the insurance industry and understanding of liability considerations.
• Confident negotiation and influencing skills with multiple stakeholders.
• Problem‑solving mindset and sound decision‑making ability.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
