Summer Internship - Retail, Business and Customer Banking, Knutsford

About the role

Barclays is offering a 10-week summer internship in its Retail, Business and Customer Banking division, based at its Knutsford campus. The programme is aimed at students in their penultimate year of university who are graduating in 2028, and gives them hands-on experience in real projects, supported by mentors and training.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the day-to-day activities of the retail banking division, helping senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services and spot new market opportunities.
• Run small research projects and prepare presentations and reports, then work with senior management to put the findings into practice.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on business initiatives.
• Identify opportunities, develop business cases and help manage the launch of new retail banking products and services.
• Manage client relationships and provide customer service support, including answering questions, processing transactions and resolving complaints, under steadily decreasing supervision.
• Develop and run financial models and strategies used in retail banking decisions.
• Train and mentor junior colleagues.

Required profile

• Student in the penultimate year of university, graduating in 2028.
• Enthusiasm, drive and a solutions-focused mindset that puts clients first.
• Visa sponsorship is accepted for eligible candidates; those not eligible for a skilled worker visa must have their own right to work in the UK from June to August 2027.
