Supervising Social Worker – Fostering (Peterborough)

About the role

The Supervising Social Worker will join Peterborough City Council's Fostering Service, providing guidance and supervision to foster carers and helping to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people in care. This hybrid role offers a supportive team environment and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise a caseload of up to 15 fostering households
• Complete monthly supervision visits with foster carers
• Provide ongoing support, guidance and professional advice to foster families
• Attend and contribute to Child Care Reviews, Placement Planning Meetings and other relevant meetings
• Complete Foster Carer Annual Reviews
• Participate in the fostering team's day‑duty rota
• Undertake safeguarding checks, assessments and risk assessments
• Work collaboratively with children’s social workers, education professionals and clinical teams
• Support placement stability and promote positive outcomes for children in foster care
• Ensure compliance with fostering regulations, policies and statutory requirements

Required profile

• Registered with Social Work England
• Qualified Social Worker with relevant post‑qualified experience
• Previous experience within a fostering team
• Strong assessment, supervision and safeguarding abilities
• Ability to build effective relationships with foster carers and partner agencies
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
