Supervising Social Worker – Kinship Fostering Team

About the role
Manchester City Council is looking for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join its Kinship Fostering Team. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, court‑ready assessments for children placed with extended family members, ensuring compliance with national fostering standards.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, conduct and write comprehensive Kinship and Connected Persons assessments within strict court deadlines.
- Ensure all work complies with Fostering Services Regulations, National Minimum Standards and safeguarding policies.
- Identify, evaluate and manage risks within wider family networks, applying robust child‑protection knowledge.
- Participate in duty rota, providing out‑of‑hours cover as required.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker with a current Social Work England registration.
- Proven experience completing complex, court‑ready Kinship/Connected Persons assessments.
- Exceptional organisational and time‑management skills to meet competing legal deadlines.
- Willingness to work primarily office‑based in Manchester with flexibility for duty cover.
Required skills
- In‑depth knowledge of national fostering regulations and safeguarding frameworks.
- Ability to produce detailed, analytical reports suitable for court presentation.
