Supplier Quality Engineer – Remote (UK/EU)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer to support a leading global engineering organisation on a major European programme. The role is primarily home‑based with occasional travel to Darlington and supplier sites across the UK and mainland Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Support supplier selection, qualification and audit activities.
• Lead supplier quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions.
• Manage APQP and PPAP processes during new product introduction.
• Investigate build quality issues, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive closure.
• Monitor supplier performance and report APQP metrics.
• Promote continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
• Support Zero Defect Manufacturing initiatives across the supply base.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years’ experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer.
• Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP and AIAG Core Tools.
• Proven experience conducting supplier audits and development.
• Excellent problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis abilities.
• Understanding of quality management systems in manufacturing, automotive or heavy engineering.
• Effective communication and influencing skills.
• Willingness to travel occasionally within the UK and Europe.
• Relevant engineering qualification (Degree, HNC, HND, ONC, apprenticeship) or equivalent experience.
