Supply Chain Placement – Space Systems (12 months)

About the role

Join the Payload Procurement team at Airbus Defence and Space in Portsmouth for a 12‑month placement focused on supply chain activities for high‑value RF hardware used in space satellites. You will gain practical experience in commodity management, supplier engagement and quality delivery within a multinational aerospace environment.

Key responsibilities

• Support commodity management activities such as market surveys, cost database maintenance and development of sourcing strategies.
• Assist the Supply Chain and Quality Management team in monitoring on‑time and on‑quality delivery of high‑value RF equipment for telecommunications spacecraft.
• Contribute to tendering, supplier selection and Vendor Review Board processes, acting as a liaison between supply chain and production quality.
• Lead improvement projects aimed at enhancing procurement ways of working.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate in Business, Project Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related discipline and will remain a student for the full 12‑month placement.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently and demonstrate a proactive attitude in a technical environment.
• Professional demeanor when interacting with suppliers and internal teams; familiarity with Google Workspace is a plus.
