Support Officer

About the role

The Support Officer works within the Foyer Service, providing supported housing for 16‑25‑year‑olds with complex needs. You will help residents manage daily living, access education or employment, and develop the skills needed for independent living.

Key responsibilities

• Assist residents with budgeting, cooking, and home maintenance.
• Encourage participation in training, volunteering and employment opportunities.
• Promote positive relationships and address behaviours that affect progress.
• Develop and review support plans and risk assessments.
• Advocate for residents and guide them through external services.
• Collaborate with families, social services and other agencies.
• Work evening and weekend shifts (no overnight work) and attend occasional training or meetings.

Required profile

• Experience supporting people with complex needs, preferably in housing or youth services.
• Strong communication skills with a calm, empathetic approach.
• Confidence in managing casework and multi‑agency partnerships.
• Good understanding of safeguarding, tenancy sustainment and multi‑agency working.
• IT literacy and ability to use digital systems effectively.
• Desirable: CIH Level 2/3, youth‑work qualifications, mental health first aid.
